Microcomms seaside team-building adventure

by Jo Smith in Microcomms News

At Microcomms, we truly value the power of teamwork and each quarter we get together to reflect on the highs and lows of the previous few months. This lets us align our strategy for the future while celebrating our achievements. These team-building days also allow us to support our colleagues’ wellbeing and reward the team for their hard work while providing the perfect opportunity to strengthen our bonds. This quarter, we embarked on an unforgettable seaside adventure for a day of exploring, cooking and celebrating together as a team!

Beginning the Team day

We headed to the coast to be hosted right on the beach at the picturesque Cove Café in Hayle. We collaborated with the renowned Philleigh Way Cookery School, led by Rupert Cooper and his dedicated team, who ensured that our afternoon was filled with both adventure and culinary delight.

Our adventure began with a foraging expedition along the rugged Hayle coastline, guided by our expert Emma the Forager! We uncovered some edible treasures such as wild samphire, dulse seaweed and sea buckthorn. Foraging not only taught us about the natural world and all the tasty treasures that are on our doorstep, it also provided us with valuable team time in the fresh air – all in the glorious October sunshine which we were lucky enough to be graced with! We tried lots of natural ingredients and learned about the edible plants, seaweeds and flavourings that surround us in Cornwall. We headed back to our base at Cove Café, where the team at Philleigh Way Cookery School gave us a masterclass in cooking. We fired up the smoker and split up into teams to prepare a feast, learning how to fire up and cook on a smoker, all with an unforgettable view. After this we sat down to enjoy our homemade meal together with a glass of wine, toasting our hard work over the last quarter.

Staff Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our brilliant team is of the utmost importance and our belief is simple: together, we are more powerful. That is why we are firm believers in investing time in our team and acknowledging hard work. Together, we come away feeling united, motivated and incredibly fortunate to have these amazing spots at our fingertips as a proud Cornish business.

“Aaron and his associates were wonderful to work with during all phases of opening up our new office! They were informative and took the time to explain how some of the new technology worked (in “layman’s terms”) with patience and hands on demonstrations. The team followed up with notes afterwards and was very thorough and never failed to address any questions or issues we had even after they departed. Super personable as well, they felt like family before they left! Enjoyed working with them! ”.
